Bessie Hooper.

Bessie Hooper was born in Burnside, SA, on 27 of May, 1878, and was an only child to John HOOPER and Elizabeth nee LILLECRAPP.

At the age of 38 years she enlisted on 20 May 1917, and embarked 31 May 1917 in Adelaide per “Khiva”. She served in India and England, and was promoted to Sister on the 26 June 1919.

She fell ill with Influenza September 1919, and so returned to Australia 06 September 1919 per “Euripides” On Duty. Her appointment was terminated, 30 November 1919 and went on to marry James William BERRY MBE, in Calcutta, India.

She resided Hawthorn, SA, and died 16 February 1968 in Adelaide, SA, at age 87 years. She was buried Centennial Park Cemetery Acacia E, Path 39, Grave 705B.
