Great Sydney Central Station Honour Board

Alfred Cotterill CLARK, (Service Number 32) was born on 5 January 1884 at Doncaster, Yorkshire. He first worked for the NSW Tramways as a casual conductor from 18 November 1911. His employment became permanent in July 1912 and he retained the role until he was released from duty to join the Expeditionary Forces on 13 April 1916. He was not married, and gave his father, still resident in England as his next of kin.

Alfred Cotterill CLARK, (Service Number 32) was born on 5th January 1884 at Doncaster, Yorkshire. He first worked for the NSW Tramways as a casual conductor from 18th November 1911. His employment became permanent in July 1912. He was released from duty to join the Expeditionary Forces on 13th April 1916. He was not married. He gave his father, who was still living in England, as his next of kin.

Upon enlistment he was sent to Goulburn Depot Camp.

He left Australia from Sydney on HMAT ‘Demosthenes’ on 18th May 1916. Once in England he was transferred to the 3rd Division Cyclists Corps. It appears that this unit was absorbed into the 2nd Australian Infantry Battalion in September before Clark went to France.

He died of wounds on 13th December 1916.

He is buried at Bernafay Wood British Cemetery ¾ mile N.E. of the Church at Montauban, two miles N. of Maricourt, 6¼ miles East of Albert.
