Son of Inuk Pavia Luplau Janssen and Margaret Elizabeth Catherine Janssen nee Scopie of 1 Barry Street, Mentone, Victoria. Brother of Beatrice Louise Janssen and Carl Wilhelm Janssen who died of wounds at sea on 26 April 1915 having served with the 5th Battalion and has no known grave. His name appears on the Lone Pine Memorial, Panel 24
