Military Medal
'At WESTHOEK RIDGE 20th September 1917. This N.C.O. showed great initiative in handling his Lewis gun in the attack, frequently firing from the hip and inflicting many casualties on the enemy. Later, having reorganised his section, he rendered valuable assistance in attending the wounded and stretcher bearing under heavy shell fire. He was a fine example to his men.'
