Alfred Henry Wills served both in the South African (Boer) War as a Private S.N. 128 in the 3rd Queensland Mounted Infantry, and WW1 as a Private S.N. 2226 in the 4th Pioneer Battalion. (sources AWM Boer War Nominal Roll, Murray p. 469 and National Archives Australia WW1 service records Attestation Paper).
