Son of John Simons and Annie Simons nee McCallum  of Goulburn, NSW.

Brother of Richard Clyde Simons who was  killed in action at Gallipoli, 29 April 1915 while serving with the 3rd Battalion and has no known grave. His name appears on the Lone Pine Memorial, Panel 21 and James Lovel Simons who was killed in action on 10 October 1917 and has no known grave. His name appears on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres

Husband of Lilah May Simons nee Frances of 21 Wilton Street, Sydney, NSW. John and Lilah married in Warren, NSW during 1907c

Commenced return to Australia on 11 January 1918 aboard HT Port Darwin disemarking on the 4 March 1918
