Biography contributed by Stephen Brooks

Clarence’s older brother 2903 Pte. Lewis Stanley Warren 44th Battalion AIF, was later killed in action in Belgium 14 October 1917, aged 28.

Their father, Mr. Louis Warren went to Western Australia from South Australia in about 1904 to take charge of the late Hon. F.H. Piesse's station at Riverdale. Two years later he became manager for Mr. A. E. Piesse at Langaweira, which post he filled with marked success. He died suddenly of a heart attack in 1914. Their mother died in early 1915, just before her only two sons enlisted. They gave their place of association as Katanning, Western Australia.

Clarence Hampton Warren was posted missing at Fromelles 20 July 1916. At a Court of Enquiry, held in the field, 12 August 1917, he was pronounced 'Killed in Action, 20 July 1916'.

Lewis Stanley Warren was still in Western Australia when the news of his brother’s death came through. He desperately tried to obtain a death certificate from Base Records so that he could finalise his brother’s affairs prior to his own enlistment, which took place in September 1916.

Clarence’s medals were sent to his sister, Alice Warren.
