Edward Johns of the Australian Army Service Corps, applied to return to Australia on account of the death of his brother and stepbrother. His brother, 2195 Pte. William John Johns, 56th Battalion AIF, was killed in action 2 April, 1917, aged 20 and a stepbrother, 3790 Pte. Thomas Dunstan 30th Battalion AIF, was killed in action 28 September 1917.
He was returned to Australia on the authority of the GOC AIF, William Birdwood, during late 1917.
