Biography

"...2123 Private Charles Edward Marlow, 38th Battalion AIF. Pte Marlow, a farmer of Mologa, Vic, enlisted on 1 August 1916. He embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT A9 Shropshire on 25 September 1916 and was killed in action on 26 April 1918. From a family of five brothers who served in the AIF, Pte Charles Marlow was one of three who were killed. His brothers were: Lieutenant Allan Sharp Marlow who returned to Australia on 19 August 1919; 2363 Pte Alfred Wilfred Marlow, 38th Battalion, who was killed in action on 17 July 1917; 2748 Corporal George Tennyson Marlow, 2nd Brigade Trench Mortar Battery, died of wounds on 21 September 1917 and 119 Pte Percy Place Marlow, 38th Battalion, who returned to Australia on 27 May 1919.
