Births Dec 1896 Tilbury George Vernon Catherington 2c 155
Catherington is a village in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England. It is 1 mile northwest of Horndean, just west of the A3 road.
He emigrated aged 17 years.
He was 19 and the son of David and Annie Tilbury, of Thorndean, HAMPSHIRE, England.
He is remembered on the Catherington War memorial which can be found on the lych gate access to the church of All Saints. The lych gate is gabled with a Cross set above the front within the gable, the memorial is a set of four wooden panels within the lych gate. The wood carver was Mr Arthur Romney Green. There are 54 names for World War 1. There is, in the churchyard, also a stone memorial with a lantern Cross mounted on an octagonal plinth with a four stepped octagonal base; the memorial is worn.
