Only son of Robert and Jean Sabey, East Wellington and Tailem Bend, South Australia. Won the Hahndorf College Cup for athletics two years in a row, 1901 and 1902. Taught at various S.A. schools including Richman's Valley (near Quorn) and Frances. Very accomplished musician and singer, performed at many country entertainments in SA, Vic. and NSW. Drove stock around Wilcannia, NSW before enlisting at Liverpool. Appointed J.P in 1922, resided Barmera, Kadina, Tailem Bend, Briby Island and Mt Nebo (Qld).
