Son of Cornelius O'Neill and Mary Jane Smith formerly O'Neill of Broadwater, Richmond River, NSW.
Foster brother of Thomas Joseph O'Neill who was killed in action on 25 July 1916 while serving with the 9th Battalion and has no know grave. His name appears on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial.
Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal issued to his brother Edward O'Neill of QLD.
