Older brother 31845 Driver William John Sutherland 4th Division Ammunition Column, Australian Field Artillery, died of wounds 29 September 1917. Age 36.

Both sons of William and Mary Jane Sutherland, of 25, Arlie Avenue, Armadale, Victoria.

Another brother, 7566 Private Ernest Scott Sutherland 7th Battalion AIF returned to Australia 24 December 1918.
