Emma was the daughter of John Henry Chadwick and Sarah Ann Chadwick nee Wainwright.
Emma enlisted as a Staff Nurse with the Australian Army Nursing Service on 10.5.1917 and embarked on 23.11.1917 from Fremantle per 'Canberra'. She saw service in Egypt. However, she developed unresponsive Gastric problems and was
Invalided to Australia on 17.7.1919 per “Dunluce Castle”. Discharged as medically unfit 24.9.1919
