Add my storyBiography
"The late Quartermaster-Sergeant E. V. Jones, who was killed in action in France on June 36, joined the forces soon after the outbreak of hostilities, and proved himself a brave and fearless soldier, and rose from the ranks to that of quartermaster sergeant. The late soldier was a keen enthusiast in cricket and football circles, and for a long time was connected with the Commercial Travellers' Cricket Club, and was an ardent supporter of the Port Adelaide Football Club. He was also most popular with his fellows at the front, and showed kindly consideration for the comfort and care of the younger soldiers in the trenches. Quartermaster-Sergeant Jones was a son of Mr. Vickery Y. Jones, of Port Adelaide, whose two youngest sons, Keith and Robert, are now serving with the Imperial Forces." - from the Adelaide Mail 14 Oct 1916 (nla.gov.au)
