Selwyn Kemp SKIPWORTH was born in Red Hill near Dromana, Victoria on 21st September, 1891
His parents were Frederick James SKIPWORTH and Sarah Parsons LAMING - they married at Saint Pauls Church in Adelaide on 22nd March, 1882
He grew up in Kadina, Cowell & McLaren Vale in South Australia before moving to Western Australia
His father died in 1902 in South Australia and his mother remarried in 1912 in Western Australia to a Job SELWOOD
He enlisted in Perth, WA on 29th March, 1916 and embarked with the 44th Infantry Battalion, 2nd reinforcements from Fremantle on the shiop Miltiades on 9th August, 1916 - he was transferred to the 34th Infantry Battalion on 10th November, 1916
He was Wounded in Action on 23rd July, 1917 and died on 24th July at the 2nd Australian Casualty Clearing Station from gun shot wounds to his back, leg, arm and foot
Selwyn is buried at Trois Arbres Cemetery in France and his name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial
