Son of William Ambrose Uhr and Charlotte Eliza Uhr nee Roberts of 'Balcultha', Albert Avenue, Chatswood, NSW. Brother of Norman Uhr who returned to Australia on 12 May 1917 having served with the 54th Battalion.
Commenced return to Australia on 27 May 1919 aboard HT Rio Prado disembarking on 24 July 1919
