Father William Hand DAVENPORT and Mother Annie Davenport (nee FARROW),
lived at East Parade (Arab Steed Hotel), Kensington, SA
(later moved to 'Inverness', Henley Beach Road, Torrensville, SA)

A good sportsman he won the 120 yards flat race (U13) at the 1907 Annual Sports Day.
He was also a keen footballer, playing for the South Adelaide Juniors.

11/4/1916    embarked from Outer Harbour, Port Adelaide onboard HMAT
                   Aeneas A60 (for Suez, Egypt).
                   as a Private with 32nd Infantry Battalion, 6th Reinforcements

20/6/1916    embarked onboard Huntsend from Alexandria
30/6/1916    disembarked into Marseilles, France

29/7/1916    proceeded to join 32nd Infantry Battalion, Etaples, France

He relocated to his battalion on the Western Front, France, during August 1916.

16/2/1917    he was killed in action near Albert, France

buried  South East of Gueudecourt, 3 miles north of Combles

NO known grave.

His name is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
