Albert Kingman

Bertie turned 18 on 23rd of January, 1918, and enlisted in the army on 17th May, 1918, but he still had to have his parent’s permission to be able to enlist and leave the country. He enlisted at Liverpool, on 10th May, 1918, and was a private in the 1st to 15th (NSW) Reinforcements, his service number was 59762. His occupation was as a publisher, his description was 5’ 7” tall, weight 112 lbs, complexion dark, eyes brown, hair dark brown. He departed Australia 30th July, 1918 aboard the SS Gaika. He returned to Australia 4th September 1919, and was discharged from the army on 5th September, 1919 in Sydney.

He married Alice Carmel Foley, in Marrickville, 1920. Alice was born in Waterloo 9th October, 1900, and died at Waverley on 11th June, 1958, and is buried at Eastern Suburbs Memorial Park, Catholic section. Bertie died at 61 Roxburgh St, Stockton, on 14th December, 1974, and was cremated at Beresfield Crematorium.
