Son of Duncan Anderson Urquhart and Alice Maud Urquhart nee Ganderton of Clifford Street, Warragul, Victoria.
Brother of Hugh Urquhart who returned to Australia on 27 December 1918 having served with the Engineer Details
21 July 1915 - enlisted at Melbourne, Victoria, with the 2nd Field Company engineers and with the rank of Sapper.
18 March 1916 - transferred to the 12th Field Company Engineers
10 January 1917 - wounded in action. Slight wound which was dressed and he returned to duty
10 June 1919 - commenced return to Australia aboard HT Port Lyttleton disembarking on 5 August 1919

14 October 1919 - discharged at the 3rd Military District
