Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Son of Charles and Mary MAVAY; husband of Jane MAVAY, Warwick, Queensland.

Our Yangan correspondent informed us yesterday that word had been received that Herbert James Mavay had died of wounds  received in action in France, on October 12. Private Mavay leaves a widow, and the whole of the district extend their sympathies  to her in her sorrow. Prior to enlistment Private Mavay was president of the Yangan School of Arts committee, and a member of  the committee of the Sports Association. As a mark of respect flags were flown half-mast at the State school, School of Arts, and principal business houses. It might be mentioned that the late Private Mavay's brother left recently for the frout, while two brothers of the deceased hero's widow also joined the A.I.F., one of them at present being a prisoner of war.
