SMH has an item Wednesday, 30 January 1918 p.7. "Mr and Mrs Carver of Ormside, Mosman have had word that their eldest son, Pte Bernard William Bartram Carver stretcher-bearer, 5th Field Ambulance has been recommended for a medal for conspicuous bravery. He has had three birthdays at the front." Nowhere in his file in the National Archives can reference to this occurring be found.
