Born and educated in Ipswich. The son of Theophorus Evangelus Germain and Elizabeth (nee Hussey) Germain, of 'Stoneleigh,' Lanefield, via Ipswich. Enlisted 1st Nov.,1915, and sailed 17th May, 1916. for England, where he went to Salisbury Plain. Left for France 15th October, 1916. The different stunts that he took part in were Messines, Passchendaele, advance on Somme, Hamel, and Hindenberg Line. Was in the Intelligence Section after Passchendaele, and awarded the Military Medal for bravery in the field in May, 1918. Left England for Australia, arriving 5/7/19, per S.S. Nestor...
