Son of Robert and Jane Turnbull of Macksville, NSW. Brother of Andrew William Turnbull who returned to Australia on 10 July 1919 having served with the 3rd Machine Gun Squadron and Ernest George Turnbull of Sefton, NSW

PRIVATE O. E. TURNBULL.
Private Oliver E. Turnbull, who was killed in action at the Dardanelles on May 22, was born at Craigie, Bombala, on the South Coast, 25 years ago, and before going to reside on the Nnmbucca River spent most of his life at Avoca, Moss Vale. Private Turnbull left with the Third Reinforcements of the 1st Battalion and up to the time of enlisting was in the building trade with his father and brothers. His brother, Allan H. Turnbull, wounded some months ago, has returned to the front. Another brother lost his life in the South African war.
