Biography contributed by Stephen Brooks

Maurice had just turned 19 years of age when he was reported missing after heavy fighting at Mouquet Farm near Pozieres in September 1916. He was not officially confirmed as killed in action until July 1917.

During 1930, his remains were located by the Imperial War Graves Commission and his identity disc was recovered and sent back to his family. Much to the relief of his Dad, he received a proper burial in the Serre Road Military Cemetery in France.
