Esbert William Frank Hannett was born on the 9th of April 1898 within a small town of South Australia called Laura. Before enlisting in the war he worked as a farm hand and his religion was the Church of England. He was the son of Mrs Ada Hannett who was also his next of kin. There is very little information about his physical appearance and life before enlisting such as schooling, intrests, etc. Esbert William Frank served in the senior cadets for six months but was discharged due to a bad leg.

He was a single when he enlisted to go to the war on the 12th of April 1916. He was assigned to the 7th reinforcement of the 32nd Battalion and his service number was 3351. The Unit embarked from Adelaide, South Australia, on board HMAT A57 Malakuta on 27 June 1916. On the 11 of November 1916 he proceeded overseas to France per S.S "Golden Eagle" Folkestone to reinforce the 32nd Battalion and then on the 27 of December 2016 he marched out to England.

Esbert William Frank wasn't transferred, he didn't receive promotions, appointments or reversions and he also didn't commit any crimes. He disembarked from the war on the 10th of March 1918, due to being medically unfit. He had issues with his right hip (Old Tuberculosis) and was discharged from the hospital on the 27th of March 1918. ]

Esbert William Frank served a total of 2 years, 46 days and in that time served 1 year, 318 days abroad. He died on 22nd of November 1948  and his grave is located in 760 Goodwood Road Adelaide, Adelaide, South Australia, Australia.

Esbert William Frank Hannett was awarded the British War Medal (04/1916 | 15535) and the Victory Medal (04/1916 | 15510).
