Biography

"...1181 Private Leonard Malcolm Sumner Potts, 7th Light Horse. A bank clerk from Longueville, NSW, prior to enlistment, Pte Leonard Sumner Potts embarked with his brother 1203 Pte Jack Diamond Sumner Potts, from Sydney with the 8th Reinforcements on HMAT Suffolk on 28 July 1915. The brothers transferred to the Australian Flying Corps, serving with No. 1 Squadron which joined British forces in Egypt and became known as No. 67 (Australian) Squadron, Royal Flying Corps (RFC). It reverted to its original name in January 1918. Lt Leonard Sumner Potts returned to Australia on 28 April 1918. Lt Jack Sumner Potts died when on 4 January 1918 when his RE8 aircraft collided with another RE8 of No. 113 Squadron RFC at Jenin, Palestine..." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
