James Walters was an Australian who went to World War 1. He served as a trooper in the war, but started his involvement as a private in 1915. Walters was born in Port Adelaide, South Australia, while his date of birth is unknown, he was aged 19 when he embarked. Before Walters enlisted, he worked as a horse driver and lived on Gordon street, Albert Park, Adelaide. His parents were Ernest and Sarah Walters. Walters was not married and believed in the Church of England.

Walters’ unit was the 11th light horse regiment, C squadron. Walters’ unit embarked from Brisbane on board the HMAT A7 Medic on 2 June 1915. He fought at Egypt, Gallipoli and Palestine. He continued to do so until the 30th April 1918 when he was killed in action. He died in Palestine and is buried in the Jerusalem memorial. Walters earnt the 1914-15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal.
