Death caused by train accident, at Northgate Junction, Brisbane, Queensland
The Ambulance Brigade last evening Tendered first aid to Trooper F. V. Ruthenberg, of the 22th Light Horse, who only recently returned, from active service, and was proceeding to his home at Ayr by the Northern mail train. It is thought that the soldier put his head out of the carriage window, and struck the overbridge at Northgate Junction. He sustained two large lacerated wounds on the back of the head, and the left side of the face, and other injury to the head. He was taken to the Enoggera Military Hospital, where it was learnt on inquiry early this morning that he had not recovered consciousness, and was in a critical condition.
