Son of George William Underwood and Phillippa Underwood nee Visick of Sixth Avenue, Maylands, WA.

On 26 July 1919 George married Lilian Adelaide Ford in Parish Church of Holy Trinity, Honnslow, Middlesex, England. Vicar L.B. Currie officiated.

Commenced return to Australia on 22 December 1919 aboard HT Themistocles disembarking on 29 January 1920.

Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal

In March 1935 his address was given as C/- Bank of Australasia, Cockspar Street, London, England as he had re-enlisted on 3 October 1934 with the Royal Corps of Signals Territorial Army for a period of four years.
