Allen Gordon Hayward was born in 1890 in Brompton, South Australia. Before he enlisted into the army he was a Labourer, a person who does basic manual work for money. Allen then enlisted on the 14th of January 1915, this was when he was 25 years old. He was 5ft and 8 1/2 inches, he had a fair complexation with grey eyes and dark brown hair.
Allen participated in the 9th Light Horse Regiment. This was a mounted rifles regiment of the AIF. He served on Gallipoli for about six weeks in October and November 1915 before being evacuated to hospital. He was eventually returned to Australia for medical discharge due to heart complaints.
Allen Gordon Hayward Died on the 9th of February 1929, when he was 39.
