Son of Walter Huish and Mary Ann Huish of Parson  Street, Bedminster, Bristol, England. Also worked as a taxi driver.

At the time of his enlistment was Avon Robertson Street, Highfield, Canterbury, NSW.

Husband of Florence May Huish nee Brownof Chapel Barton, West Street, Bedminster, Bristol, England. Alfred and Florence married on 3 March 1917 in the Church of St. Aldhelm, Bedminster, Bristol, England. Vicar Percy H. Godwin officiated.
