John Walter FORREST was born in 1896 in Bendigo, Victoria His parents were George William FORREST and Martha TREWREN S/N 243 - he enlisted on 12.6.1916 as a Private with the 60th Battalion Unit embarked from melbourne on board HMAT Shropshire on 25.9.1916 John was killed in Action on 11.3.1917 buried Bulls Road Cemetery ,, Plot 1, Row c. Grave 26. Flers, France His brother William S/N 5884 was also killed in action Article from Bendigo Anzac Centenary Private John/Jack Walter Forrest service number 2413, served with the 60th Infantry Battalion. He was KIA in France 11/3/1917 aged 20 years and is remembered at Bulls Road Cemetery, Flers, Picardie, France. John Walter [Jack] Forrest was born in 1896 at Bendigo to George William & Martha Forrest nee Trewren. Jack was a saddler prior to his enlistment 12/6/1916, his father was listed as his next of kin and their address was 233 Bridge St Bendigo. Private Forrest embarked from Melbourne 25/9/1916 per HMAT Shropshire A9. His brother, William service number 5884 was also KIA.
