Alexander Day was an Australian man that served in World War 1. He joined on July 15th, 1916. Alexander was aged 26 years and 7 months, he was 5 foot 3, weighed 140 lbs, he had blue eyes and light brown hair and a chest size of 25.37 inches. His religion was Baptist. He had perfect 6/6 vision and vaccination certificates. Before Alexander went to war, he was an accountant and married to Ruby Hilder Gladys Day. He was born in Broken Hill but at the time of enlisting he lived on Semaphore Rd, Semaphore.
Alexander Day was in the 27th Battalion. Day embarked from Adelaide on the 24th of January 1917. Alexander disembarked Devonport on the 27th of March 1917, and was taken on strength on the 29th August 1917. Alexander was then wounded in action on the 22nd of May 1918 by aerial bombing. On the 29th May 1918 he embarked to England from France. Day was advised as wounded on June 10th and later to hospital on June 15th in France. Alexander re-joined his unit on the 25th of August 1918. Alexander was advised to return to Australia on the 20th of August 1919. Day was later discharged from the army and retired on the 14th of November 1919.
