Digory was a Lance Sergeant and served in the Middle East, England and in France where he was wounded more than once.

His brother Private Frank Leslie Keals, Service Number 2177, aged 23, and also with the 28th Bn. Australian Infantry, A.I.F., fell in France 21/05/1916.

They were sons of Fanny Keals, of Wharf St., Queen's Park, Western Australia, and the late William Keals.
