Son of Henry James Underhill and Ester Underhill nee Mallett of Jesery, Channel Islands. Brother of Richard Muller Underhill who was killed on in action on 14 May 1915 while serving with the 2nd Ligh Horse Regiment. Buried in Shrapnel Valley Cemetery Plot 111, Row F, Grave 12.
Commenced return to Australia on 28 June 1919 aboard HT Madras disembarking on 3 August 1919 at Sydney for onward travel to Brisbane.
