Address at the time of enlistment was Royal Terrace, Adelaide, SA. Served his carpentry apprenticeship with Irwin & Son of Leeds, England for six years. 

Son of Peter and Mary Vallette of Leeds, Yorkshire, England.

Next of kin given as his brother Phillip Vallette of York Barracks, York, England who was serving in the British Army

Previously served eight years with the West Yorkshire Regiment. He served in the South African War in from October 1899 until April 1903. He was awarded the Queens South African Medal with 5 Bars, and the Kings South African Medal with 2 Bars.
