Great Sydney Central Station Honour Board
George Cecil CRAKE, (Service Number 199) had been born on 22 May 1891 at Morpeth, Northumberland. He worked in the Traffic Branch of the Tramways as a conductor from March 1914 until September of that year when he was released from duty to join the Expeditionary Forces. By the time of his enlistment his parents may have been deceased as he gave the name of his brother, living in Newcastle-on-Tyne, as his next of kin.
He left Australia on HMAT ‘Star of Victoria’ on 20 October 1914.

George Cecil CRAKE, (Service Number 199) was born on 22nd May 1891 at Morpeth, Northumberland, England. He worked in the Traffic Branch of the Tramways as a conductor from March 1914 until September of that year when he was released from duty to join the Expeditionary Forces. By the time of his enlistment his parents may have been deceased as he gave the name of his brother, who was living in Newcastle-on-Tyne (England), as his next of kin.
He left Australia on HMAT ‘Star of Victoria’ on 20th October 1914. Although he was a member of the 1st Australian Light Horse Regiment, he fought as an infantryman at Gallipoli. He was killed in action at Monash Valley on 14th May 1915.
