Christian's parents were Christian Frederick Bechly and Auguste Marie Reik of Woodford. Christian was the seventh youngest of eight children. Christian was living at Mt Pleasant and was working as a labourer in 1913. He enlisted 7 August 1916 at Brisbane. He married Mary Agnes Ah Quee at Brisbane 9 April 1924. He died aged 84 and is buried with his wife in the Nambour Cemetery.
