Son of Edward Quintrell and Annis Grace Quintrell nee Waters of Cross Roads, Moonta, SA. Brother of Stanley Quintrell who returned to Australia on 17 July 1919 having served with the 2nd Tunnelling Company

Commenced return to Australia on 11 May 1919 aboard HT Borda disembarking on 23 June 1919.
