Son of Samuel Unwin and Mary McCann formerly Unwin of Otford Street, South Coast, NSW
3 February 1917 - enlisted at Sydney with the Camel Corps with the rank of Trooper
6 April 1917 transferred to the 4th Light Horse Training Camp
2 May 1917 - transferred to the 12th Light Horse Regiment
Commenced return to Australia on 2 August 1919 aboard HT Delta disembarking on 4 September 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Sydney
Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal
31 October 1919 - discharged at the 2nd Military District
In September 1933 Richard was residing in Canowindra, NSW
