Alexander Lampard was born in 1896 in Edenhope, Victoria. His occupation before the war was an Engine Driver. Lampard previously wasn’t part of any military service until World War 1 where he was part of the AIF (Australian Imperial Force) and was part of the 5th Battalion. Lampard had 12 siblings named Margaret Jane Lampard, Elizabeth May Lampard, William Thomas Lampard, James Lampard, Emily Theresa Lampard, Alice Lampard, George Lampard, Thomas Dixon Lampard, Gordon Lampard, Nelson Lampard, Wesley Lampard and Ivy Lampard. Lampard’s fathers name is James Nelson Lampard, which is Lampard’s next to kin, and his mothers name is Elizabeth Dixion Lampard.

Alexander Lampard enlisted on the 3rd of August 1915 in Melbourne. He embarked from Melbourne on board HMAT A64 Demosthenes on 29 December 1915. Lampard was not moved to another unit, however, he was promoted from Corporal to Sergeant.  Lampard had measles and was sent to hospital on the 14th of September 1916 and was sent back to the 5th battalion on the 18th of September 1916. Fortunately, Lampard did not die or get wounded in action. Lampard returned from service in 1920.
