Died on this date - 6th January........Private Lawrence Kinane was born at Tipperary, County Cork, Ireland. He came to Australia when he was 18 years old & enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 10th June, 1916 as a 20 year old Labourer from Brisbane, Queensland.

Private Kinane embarked from Brisbane on 19th September, 1916 & disembarked at Plymouth, England on 9th December, 1916.
Reinforcements were only given basic training in Australia. Training was completed in training units in England. These were located in the Salisbury Plain & surrounding areas in the county of Wiltshire.
Private Kinane was marched in to 13th Training Battalion at Codford, Wiltshire. He was admitted sick to Camp Hospital on 26th December, 1916 then transferred to No. 3 New Zealand Hospital at Codford on 6th January, 1917.

Private Lawrence Kinane died at 11.55 p.m. on 6th January, 1917 at No. 3 New Zealand Hospital at Codford of Broncho pneumonia. He was buried in St. Mary's New Churchyard, Codford, Wiltshire where 30 other Australian WW1 Soldiers & 66 WW1 New Zealand Soldiers are buried.
