Bruce Marley's Cowded Thirty Years.
LIFE OF ADVENTURE Bruce Marley's Crowded 30 Years. Wednesday. — Mr Bruce Marley, who was one of the party of gold-seekers killed by natives in New Britain, had an adventurous career. His uncle, Mr R. D. Doyle, Welfare Officer of the New Settlers' League, said today that Marlay, who was 30 years of age, was educated at Toowoomba Grammar School, and at the ago of 17 enlisted in the 11th Light Horse, He saw service from the beginning to tho end of the Egyptian and Palestine campaigns. Returning to Australia, ho spent several years at Victoria Downs Station, Northern Territory — the largest cattle station In the world, with an area of nearly 15,000 squaro miles. Later he joined the Expropriation Board as plantation manager in New Guinea, His thorough knowledge of native conditions wus recognised, and ho had many offers to go to tho gold-fields, to which eventually he decided to go. Mr Ken Marlay, mentioned in last night's account of tho New Guinea murders, is at present at 'Salnmon, New Guinea.. He is on his way to Edio Creek goldfields.
