NEW MODERATOR.
REV. G. R. S. REID.
The new Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of New South Wales (the Rev G R.S Reid) will be installed at the opening session of the Genera! Assembly, to be held this evening in St. Stephen's Church, Phillip street.
Mr Reid was born In Flfeshlre, Scotland, and graduated at the University of St. Andrew's, where he was a prize man In Latin.Greek, English, and philosophy classes. He studied theology at New College Edinburgh, and was then appointed to the charge of the Scots Church In Brussels In 1907 Mr Reid came to Australia After acting for sometime In Victoria as Iocum-tenens In St Andrew's Kirk, Ballarat, and also in St.George's Church, St. Kilda, he was called tothe pastoral charge of Narrandera. In 1914 Mr, Reid was called to Glebe, where he ministered during the war, and also acted as chapIain overseas. Nine years ago he became the first minister at Roseville, and still labours there.
For 12 years Mr. Reid was convener of youth work, and ho has been lecturer In pastoral theology to the united classes of the Presbyterian, Congregational, and Methodist students under the Joint Faculty of St. Andrew's College He Is also a member of the Council of the Presbyterian Ladles' Colleges at Croydon and Pymble. During the negotiations with sister Churches for union he took a prominent part as an advocate for a larger and stronger and more united Australian Church. He is convener of the Publications and Records Committee, and also of the Home Religion Committee, being the compiler of the "Family Altar Card" booklet for devotional purposes, which has now an annual circulation
of more than 25,000 throughout Australia and New Zealand.
