He was 32 and the son of Henry and Jane Clayton, of Meppershall, Shefford, England.Son of Henry and Jane Clayton, of Meppershall, Shefford, England.

 

He is honoured on the Meppershall, Shefford War Memorial. The Memorial stands in the main street through Shefford and takes the form of a grey, granite, obelisk, mounted on a three tiered, granite, plinth with a single stepped base surrouned by a small metal fence. There are 71 names for World War 1 and 24 for World War 2. The memorial was dedicated and unveiled 13 November 1921.
