Charles Calliope Wiley was born in Rockhampton, Queensland in April, 1886. He married Maud Mary Brooks on 5 January, 1911 in Mount Morgan, Queensland. Their son, Bryce Wiley, was born on 21 May, 1911 in Rockhampton, Queensland. Maud Wiley died on 15 June, 1912 (presumably during child birth) at Cameron Downs Station, Hughenden, Queensland.
Charles enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 8 February 1915, aged 28 years 10 months. Embarked at Brisbane per A7 "Medic" on 2 June, 1915. Proceeded overseas to France 13 January, 1917 on the "Princess Victoria" from Folkestone, England. Served with the 11th and 2nd Light Horse Regiments at Gallipoli between August and November 1915.
Later transferred to the 49th Battalion B213, 3rd Light Horse Regiment.
Charles Calliope Wiley was killed in action, Ypres, Belgium on 7 June, 1917.
