OUR BONNIE SON TOO DEARLY LOVED TO EVER BE FORGOTTEN
WHARTON.- In loving memory of our dear son and brother, Private R. B. Wharton (Robbie), A.I.F., eldest son of R. and E. Wharton, only brother of Fred; also his loving mate (Billy) Williams, both killed side by side at Flers, France, on 28th November, 1916; also my dear mother, M. Gordon, who passed away January, 1895. Robbie and grannie united.
I shall come again, dear parents,
From my home in summer land;
And although you may not see me,
I shall often touch your hand.
I shall look upon your dear faces,
I shall listen to what you say,
And be often with you, dearest mother,
As before I went away.
—(Inserted by his loving father, mother, and brother.)
WHARTON.- A tribute of esteem to our dear friend, Private R. B. Wharton (Robbie), 14th (late 5th) Battalion, A.I.F., killed in action in France, 28th November, 1916.
A friendship by death has been broken,
But his memory shall live with us still,
For the lighthouse of life is but friendship,
A friendship through good and through ill.
