Son of Bernard O'Neill and Annie O'Nelll nee Rooney of Palmer Street, Fitzroy, Victoria.
Brother of George O'Neill who returned to Australia on 29 February 1918 having served with the 46th Battalion.
Commenced return to Australia on 4 January 1919 aboard HT Morvada disembarking on 20 February 1919
