Frederick was born in Bowen on 2 Jul 1893, son of Joseph Edward Stanfield and Leonora Sugg.

Private Stanfield enlisted in Townsville on 8 May 1916, and embarked from Brisbane per HMAT A49 “Seang Choon” on 19 Sep 1916.

He served on the Western Front with the 31st Battalion AIF. He returned to Australia 5 Jul 1919.

He married Ethel May Thompson on 9 Jan 1923.

He died on 8 Aug 1968. Frederick was a grocer.
